Pahponee (PAH-pon-ee) is my Kickapoo name. The English traslation means "Snow Woman". My Native American heritage is primarily from the Kickapoo and Potawatomi Nations, originally a Great Lakes people from Wisconsin.
I presently live in the rural countryside of Colorado. It is here that I work full-time creating clay vessels. I am self-taught and have been working since 1982. My style has developed from my research and experiments with clay. The inspiration for each vessel comes from my dreams, visions and personal life experiences, images of my family, my teachers, and animals sacred to me, are often the topic for the vessels.

Each pottery vessel I make is designed to tell a story. To begin, I select and mix clay ingredients that best depicts each story. The ingredients come from South Dakota, Illinois, Canada, England, Georgia and Kentucky. Using clay minerals and pigments from many geographical locations allows me to create a variety of different clay mixtures. The different mixtures result in a variety of finished looks. I am interested in variety.
